On
paper this third hole at Rouken Glen, a par 3, is a relatively
straightforward challenge. However, the steepness of the
hill and the often difficult to see pin position somehow
make it feel longer and less than intuitive.
There are no major hazards to speak of, except perhaps for
the trees that run up the right hand side of the fairway,
and providing you keep fairly straight and make the distance
with your first stroke, you should -- in theory -- be in
a good position to make par.
That said, the green on this par 3 is well exposed and has
a deceptively testing run which will thwart even the best
putters.
The Stroke Index (difficulty rating) suggests this hole
is easier than it is and a par here is a noteworthy achievement.
