This
is one of the most difficult holes on the course at Rouken
Glen. Its distance is divided midway where the fairway rises
onto a second tier and ascends towards the green. Everything
runs left to right on this second tier.
However, the immediate problem is getting onto that second
tier. Hazards are almost too numerous to mention.
Too far left and you'll find heavy rough and an awkward
lie with the ball beneath your feet (assuming you are right
handed). Your next shot will also be hindered by trees.
To the right there's a watery ditch and more trees that
can impede your second stroke.
Even a straight, longish hit from the tee here can result
in disaster; a steep-walled ditch midway down the fairway
often catches reasonable drives.
A good drive onto the second tier will be rewarded but the
margin for error is much tighter than it appears from the
tee. |
