The 17th at Rouken
Glen is one of the few holes that looks more difficult from
the tee than it actually is. It is possible to reach the
green with a good drive but doing so would really depend
on the ground being firm and the ball running exceptionally
well.
The prime hazard to watch out for here is the ditch that
crosses the fairway horizontally at about 180 yards -- get
past that or lay up just before it and the rest is easy
enough. With out of bounds to the left and heavy rough and
scattered trees to the right, you really want to stay as
central as possible but the margin for error is wider than
it looks.
Bushes further down the fairway on the right can often come
into play but, unless you are treacherously close, getting
over them does not present much of a problem and from that
direction the approach to the green is good. |
