The image above does
an excellent job in depicting the potential pitfalls that
surround this green on the 14th hole at Rouken Glen. Tee
shots that end up in either of the bunkers or those that
overshoot are likely to find it difficult to make par (3).
The burn which breaks to the left and right at angles, forming
a v-shape that partially surrounds the green, often comes
into play and if you go in there from the tee you are probably
looking at a double bogey.
It is not that uncommon for careless players to find the
burn more than once here, ruining an otherwise good card,
and with the clubhouse so near you have to wonder how many
a game have ended prematurely and in disappointment as a
consequence of a little loose play here.
The best advice is to resist the pin position altogether
and just do your best to make sure you get on the green
with your first. |
