The stroke index for
this hole suggests making par here is relatively easy and
it can be, but it also seems to completely ignore the abundant
hazards and potential that exists for dropping shots here.
The standard approach is to try and come in from as high
as possible and drop dead onto the green. That means hitting
hard with a low iron, of course, and with that there's always
a lot of room for waywardness and error. This is not to
suggest an alternative approach, though, there are no alternatives,
but the margin for error is incredibly slim considering
the variety of obstacles that will come into play with tee
shots that are less than good.
This green is probably best thought of as an island; a stream
cuts at an angle left and right on the nearer sides, bunkers
flank it on the left and right, and at the back (awaiting
those that overshoot) is a treacherous downward slope covered
in rough that is usually very dry and bristly.
