Hole 13 at Rouken Glen
doglegs to the left around two-thirds of the way down the
fairway and could be described as a signature design of
the course architect, James Braid.
Going directly for the pin from the tee is an option here,
cutting out the dogleg altogether, providing you can hit
long with a good degree of loft. Much safer to hit straight,
though, and make it over the lateral ditch that cuts across
the fairway where it bends.
Going too far to the right here is not usually as detrimental
as it looks like it might be from the tee and you can quite
often find yourself on the adjacent fairway with a nice
enough lie and approach over the hedges.
Going left can be very problematic if you find yourself
in the rough with a second shot to the pin that is obstructed
by trees and their overhang. |
